CACTEI is a Melbourne based apparel label, created to showcase the colourful and wonderful designs of owner and artist Elly Malone.
From our tiny beginnings and limited runs in 2016, CACTEI continues to evolve as a bright and fun wardrobe staple. From drafting hand-drawn designs all the way to shipping out every order, Elly does it all from her bedroom in Melbourne.
CACTEI designs are printed locally, by screen-printers in Melbourne. Our tees are 190 gm, 100% Combed Cotton. Combed cotton is an extremely soft version of cotton made by specially treating the cotton fibres before they are spun into yarn, making your CACTEI tee extra soft and comfy.
Our blank tees are made in Bangladesh, in a factory with an overall B+ rating, based on their BSCI audit certificate. All workers are paid above minimum wage, with a maximum shift being 9.5 hours, with a 1.5 hour break.
CACTEI acknowledges that the road to strong sustainability and ethics is long, and we strive to continue to improve and remain transparent about our production. While we make every effort to continue to grow and adapt in even more sustainable ways, here are some of the ways in which we have already begun that journey:
- All CACTEI tees are shipped using compostable exterior packaging and zero interior packaging.
- We produce our tees in very small orders to reduce waste, so we apologise if the website ever looks a bit empty, or you have to wait a while for a re-stock.
- Everything in your order, from the printing, to the neck tag, to the postcard and mailer bags are all sourced and manufactured locally.
If you have any suggestions about how CACTEI can improve, or if you have any other questions - please let us know.
